Know Your Skin, Transform Your Results
Every great treatment starts with understanding what your skin actually needs — not what works for someone else.
Skin care is not one-size-fits-all. When Natalia consults with a new client, understanding skin type is always the first conversation. It shapes every recommendation — from the products used in your facial to the peels and treatments that will genuinely make a difference. Use this guide to identify your skin type before your visit, and arrive ready for a truly personalised consultation.
The Five Skin Types
Normal
Well-balanced skin that is neither too oily nor too dry. Pores are small and barely visible, breakouts are rare, and the complexion generally appears smooth and even. Normal skin still benefits from regular professional care to maintain its condition and prevent early signs of ageing.
Dry
Dry skin produces less sebum than it needs, leaving it prone to tightness, flakiness, and a dull or rough texture — especially after cleansing. It may feel uncomfortable in cold or low-humidity environments. Fine lines can appear more pronounced. Deeply nourishing treatments and barrier-supporting products are essential.
Oily
The sebaceous glands are overactive, producing excess oil that leaves the skin looking shiny — particularly across the forehead, nose, and chin. Pores tend to be enlarged and more visible, and breakouts are more frequent. With the right professional approach, oily skin can be rebalanced without stripping it.
Combination
The most common type. The T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) behaves like oily skin, while the cheeks are normal to dry. Treating combination skin means addressing two different zones simultaneously — something Natalia specialises in with her customised approach.
Sensitive
Sensitive skin reacts easily to products, environmental changes, or stress — redness, itching, burning, or breakouts can follow even mild triggers. It is a condition that overlaps with all other skin types and requires careful, gentle products and an experienced hand.
How to Identify Your Type — The Bare-Face Test
This simple test takes about an hour and requires nothing but a clean face and good light.
- Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. Do not apply any products.
- Wait 60 minutes. Go about your normal morning routine.
- After an hour, examine your skin in natural light — or use a mirror in a well-lit room.
What to look for:
Not sure? That's completely fine. Skin type can change with age, hormones, seasons, and stress. Natalia will assess your skin properly during your consultation.
